RSI — Relative Strength Index

Measures whether a stock is overbought or oversold on a scale of 0 to 100.

The RSI is a momentum oscillator developed by J. Welles Wilder. It compares the magnitude of recent gains to recent losses to evaluate overbought or oversold conditions. AI FinSight uses RSI(14) — calculated over 14 trading sessions.

0–30
Oversold — Potential Buy

Stock may be undervalued; reversal upward is possible.

30–70
Neutral Zone

No extreme condition; trend direction determines action.

70–100
Overbought — Caution

Stock may be overvalued; profit booking or reversal likely.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight weights RSI signals alongside other indicators. An RSI below 30 in an otherwise healthy stock triggers a positive technical score; above 70 in a weak fundamental stock adds risk score.

MACD — Moving Average Convergence Divergence

Measures trend strength, momentum, and potential trend reversals.

MACD is calculated using the difference between the 12-day EMA and 26-day EMA. A 9-day EMA of the MACD line is called the Signal Line. Together they generate buy/sell signals.

MACD Line

The difference between EMA(12) and EMA(26). Positive = bullish momentum. Negative = bearish momentum.

Signal Line

A 9-period EMA of the MACD line. Crossovers generate trading signals.

Histogram

The visual bar chart showing the difference between MACD and Signal. Green bars = bullish; red bars = bearish.

Bullish Crossover

MACD line crosses above the Signal line — potential buy signal indicating upward momentum building.

Bearish Crossover

MACD line crosses below the Signal line — potential sell signal indicating downward momentum building.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight detects MACD crossovers within 3 days of analysis. A fresh bullish crossover above zero line contributes strongly to a Buy recommendation.

Moving Averages

Smooth price data to identify the direction of the prevailing trend.

SMA
Simple Moving Average

Calculates the unweighted mean of closing prices over a specified period. SMA 50 and SMA 200 are the most widely used by institutional investors.

EMA
Exponential Moving Average

Gives more weight to recent prices, making it more responsive to new information. EMA 20 is used to identify short-term trend direction.

Golden Cross 🟢

SMA 50 crosses above SMA 200. A major bullish signal historically associated with the start of sustained uptrends in NSE stocks.

Death Cross 🔴

SMA 50 crosses below SMA 200. A major bearish signal indicating potential sustained downtrend and increased selling pressure.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight checks if the current price is above EMA 20, SMA 50, and SMA 200. Price above all three moving averages is a strong bullish alignment that contributes to a Buy signal.

Bollinger Bands

Measure market volatility and identify potential breakout conditions.

Bollinger Bands consist of a middle band (20-day SMA) with an upper and lower band placed two standard deviations away. When the bands narrow, volatility is low. When they expand, volatility is high.

Upper Band

Price touching or exceeding the upper band may indicate overbought condition or strong uptrend.

Middle Band

The 20-day SMA acting as a dynamic support/resistance level and the basis of the bands.

Lower Band

Price touching or breaking below the lower band may indicate oversold condition or strong downtrend.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight uses Bollinger Band width as a volatility measure. A price bounce off the lower band in an uptrend, or squeeze (narrowing bands) before a breakout, are factored into the technical score.

Support & Resistance

Price levels where buying or selling pressure is historically concentrated.

Support Level

A price floor where buying interest has historically been strong enough to prevent further decline. A stock bouncing off support is a bullish signal. A breakdown below support is bearish.

Resistance Level

A price ceiling where selling pressure has historically been strong enough to prevent further advance. A breakout above resistance on high volume is a strong bullish signal.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight identifies support and resistance from recent price history and displays them on the chart. Entry/exit levels in the report are derived from these key price zones.

Volume Analysis

Trading volume confirms or questions the strength of a price move.

Volume is the number of shares traded in a session. Price moves on high volume are more significant than moves on low volume. Volume confirms trends — if a stock rises on rising volume, the uptrend is likely to continue.

High Volume Rally

Price increases with above-average volume — confirms institutional buying and trend strength.

Low Volume Rally

Price increases but volume is below average — weak signal; often unsustainable without volume confirmation.

High Volume Drop

Sharp price decline with high volume — distribution by large investors; bearish signal.

Trend Analysis

Identify the prevailing direction of a stock's price movement.

Uptrend

Stock makes consistently higher highs and higher lows. Buyers are in control. AI recommends riding the trend with defined stop-loss levels.

Downtrend

Stock makes consistently lower highs and lower lows. Sellers dominate. AI recommends caution and watches for reversal signals before entry.

Sideways Market

Stock consolidates within a range. Neither buyers nor sellers control. Range-trading strategies apply; watch for breakout in either direction.

AI Interpretation: AI FinSight identifies the current trend using the relationship between price and its moving averages, and states the trend clearly in each stock report.
